Reverse Light Suggestions?

Tonight is the first time I have driven my truck after dark since I bought it.
I notice that in reverse, the lights are very dim, and I have a hard time seeing anything as I back up. was wondering if anyone had any mod suggestions to remedy this? i have a 2012 XLT 4x4 super crew EB.

thanks in advance.

Will the led replacements be that much brighter? Or are you talking about an led strip across the back? Also, can you buy led bulbs that plugin to OEM sockets? Pardon my lack of knowledge, but I've never done any type of light mod.

Thanks. Just did some searching, looks like the Putco t-style bulbs are popular. Greatly appreciated.

Those look nice and bright! That's what I need. Think I will get that taken care of first thing in the morning.

A simple led swap isn't going to give you much if not any better reverse light output. The optics aren't nearly the same as the filament from the bulb and a lot of the times the lumens are actually less..
The best thing is to mount some type of lights under the bumper. And turn them on with a switch.
Many write ups on here describing how to do it.

Take 5 minutes and search the forum and you'll come up with many threads with the same question all being answered the same way. A simple led bulb swap is not going to cut it.

I swapped the crappy halogens out for some spendy LEDs, and didn't notice a difference... They look better to anyone watching, but the light output still sucks. Get some recessed LED floors or mount them under the bumper.

Grouser, do you have before/after pics?

I have some old LED bulbs from 2007 when they were first becoming popular. Of course the output sucks. I went with reverse fogs:

i found a set of daytime running lights. they are a strip of led's voltage is low enough that i can hook direct to the reverse light without having to run a relay.
