LED Light Bar information

Im thinking about adding an LED light bar to my truck for some extra night lighting for on and/or off road use. I don't know much about these yet and was wondering if anybody could post some information about things such as good brands, power output, mounting options, bargains, etc. or any other recommendations.

Some brand names include Rigid, Baja Designs, etc. There are some on eBay, but buyer beware! You get what you pay for. You're going to have to ask a more specific question, I don't feel like typing up a book to questions you can find answers to with 5 seconds worth of googling.

Well I'v done some more research on the actual lights, now I'm just concerned with mounting options. Any recommended locations for mounting either a 10" or 20" bar? My 2011 F-150 has the opening under the grill where one would fit but would that block too much air flow to the engine (It's the 5.0 V8)? And since its not a 40" or 50" I'm not sure if it would look good on the roof.

People put billet grills in that opening, so I'm inclined to think that putting a light bar down there would be fine as well. If it were an Ecoboost I'd be more cautious. I've seen a few people with bars in the same location on 04-08's too. I think they look a bit silly on the roof, even when they are 40 or 50", unless the truck is lifted and has a certain look for it

Don't worry about blocking airflow. You have plenty of CFMs at cruising speed and even then, you have a massive engine fan. Bernoulli's Principal is on your side.

I would reccomend rigids. If you want a good price check out BAS offroad. They are on line and I haven't been able to find them cheaper anywhere else. If you don't find what you are looking for give him a call and he should be able to get it for you. He's a great guy and has done a bit of work to my truck. Small, American business just trying to make a living.
