I FINALLY tinted my tail lights on my 2005 FX4 Flare Side (7 years later). I put off doing it because the tail lights are so hard to find for this truck.

Tinted with film and they came out awesome...


My question for all of you is...what do I do about the 3rd brake light? I feel like it needs to be smoked also but it would have been a pain to tint it with the film, and it leaks anyways. So i was thinking of changing it but I cannot find anything but LED smoked lights. Will an LED 3rd look ok without LED Tail lights?

Please do not tell me to buy LED tail lights 1. because i do not like them 2. because a quality set (recon) is hard to find for a flare side truck.

If you could give me some opinions it would be great. Thanks.

 

There is tons of LED 3rd lights I think it would look perfectly fine with your lights currently.

I would also suggest getting LED tail lights (just the bulb im saying not the whole light assembly as I agree with you they look funky) I have LED brake lights in mine made by PUTCO and they are awesome (you will also get increased light output from them which would be a good idea because you have diminished the stock ones tremendously putting the tint over them)

One more thing is that LED bulbs will be the same instant on that your third brake light will be no halogen "warm ups" anymore.

 

LED bulbs are not a bad idea, but won't that cause my blinkers to hyperflash? I have seen trucks before that havedone this and it bothers me very much. Haha

 

Just a simple flasher meant for LED's is all you need (~15 bucks at the auto store) take the old one out under the dash plug the new one in
