Trying to make me feel bad isnt going to make me drop 500+ on non factory projectors. Over time I bet those things end up messing up because it isn't supposed to be in a reflective housing. I'm not being "that guy" cause I think it's cool. I'm being "that guy cause I'd rather drop 500 bucks into something way more productive. Oncoming traffic isn't complaining where I live and neither are the police. Like I said, we drive behind the police. I understand safety. I'm willing to bet if you had an F250 you'd straight pipe it
, egr/ dpf delete it and do a tune. But that's bad for emmisions. But why would you do it? Because it increase your mpg, hp and torque. I may be breaking the "rules" but I think I have a pretty legit excuse. If it comes a big issue, then I'll fix it.

I understand the money issue it sucks. Many people have these projectors in reflective housings and have no problems. And they do sell oem projectors from Lexus, Acura, and a few others. If you are worried about aftermarket then those are the way to go but yes they are expensive. You can do a retrofit for under 200 bucks. ( I did)
But people flashing you are the ones complaining. Just trying to point you in the right direction. What you do is up to you.

No offense dude, but your excuse and reasoning isn't too legit at all. So you don't wanna be that guy and pay the money to do it right, but you'd rather be that guy and pay money to do it the wrong and unsafe way? How do you know traffic doesn't care? There's so many people in my area with those lights that's there's just no point in trying to flash them all, and it's a lot of paperwork for the police too. And this isn't increasing your horsepower or torque and emissions isn't unsafe to other drivers on the road directly, so your comparison is basically apples to oranges, invalid.

If it were me, and I do understand the concept of I'd rather but a lot of money to something else, I'd do a set of quality halogens and be done with it. I ran those pnp lights for like two days and couldn't stand them, output was terrible compared to the silverstar ultras I have now. But whatever you do, good luck, and be safe out there.

See I don't understand how y'all are saying out put is bad. I can see better than ever; everything is clear in front of me. I think I have them aimed perfectly. When I drive our expedition with standard halogen, I can't see anything at all. So how is swapping back to halogen going to help? If there is a halogen bulb with that kind of brightness and white color, I would consider trying it so I wouldn't be that guy.

You aren't gunna find a halogen that bright unless you get a HIR but those are only to replace 9006 and 9005.
Yes output should be decent bright wise but not in the right place with HIDs. You shouldn't be able to see signs a mile down the road with low beams.
If you go halogens get the Philip extreme power or my personal favorite GE night hawk platinums. . They well put out the most light with a whiteish-yellowish light..

Well then I don't want halogen. I can get replacement hid bulbs for the same price as the halogens and the hid last longer. I think just looking at a retrofit housing looks cool. But if it doesn't flow with the truck, it looks out of place. I drive a 1997 f150 the only reason I out Lightning housings on it was cause it gave it a more modern appearance cause newer cars are clear now. If y'all can help me design a retrofit that looks good with my style truck, I'll consider doig it.

Did you not like any of the ones in the retrofit thread?.you could always just keep everything chrome to keep it kinda oem looking. Or you can paint the inside green to match your trucks paint.

no, i didnt really like them. i mean they dont look good on 10th or 11th gens. they just look like bug eyes on the front of the truck. nothing flows, it just looks like a makeshift aftermarket part. see one thing about me is im not really into a bunch of aftermarket look. i like pretty much everything factory except for a level or small lift with bigger tires.

here is some pics from tonight to see what it looks like driving.

To each his own I guess. I really like how some of the guys here did theirs.
I guess when I compare my beam pattern to yours I just see spottyness and dark spots on yours.

But I won't bug you anymore with a retrofit. If you don't like it then you don't have to do it. Just like Pizzaman said. Be safe out there
