A few questions
My stock headlights on my 2002 F-150 were so worn and foggy that I was able to ride with high beams and nobody flashed me. I figured it was time to get new headlights.
I decided to go with the Spec-D (I know, I know....) http://www.slickcar.com/details/4344...headlights.asp
When aiming them, I did something different than usual. I loaded my 4-wheeler into the bed of my truck THEN adjusted them. Reason being that it's the heaviest thing I will haul (and I haul it often) and I wanted to make sure my headlights wouldn't be too high. I live out in the dark, rarely traveled swamp roads of Louisiana, so I very often use my brights, making the lower-aimed projector not really an issue for me. It still lights up the road a good distance and illuminates signs.
Personally, I love them. I've had no issues with them at all. But needless to say, a few upgrades would be nice.
1) I would strongly prefer a whiter light over the slight yellow the projector puts out. The manual says that it accepts H1 or H7. I was wondering if I should get a pair of 35w 4000-5000k H1s just for color or go with a different halogen. Color is the main issue, brightness isn't really that important since I drive with my brights on most of the time anyways. I don't want blue, I don't want purple, I don't want yellow, I want a pure white to very slightly noticeable blueish white.
2)If I do eventually decide to go with a real projector, has anyone ever replaced the projector in the aftermarket headlights with a retrofit one? Can it be done? I love the look of the one piece headlight with the black background. If I ever do end up wanting to put real HID projectors, I would LOVE to put them in these housings.
I'm just curious. This isn't a really important thing, just looking to see what my options are if I want to change them. I'm actually extremely satisfied with the spec-d's that I have on right now. I would just prefer purer white than most halogens can provide.
Thanks

1. If you want pure white or atleast close just stay halogen and get tinted bulbs since brightness isn't key. You will lose light output but will have close to the color you want. Don't do hids in those they aren't meant for it. You could burn the bowl of the projector.
2. They do make a retro quick system that uses a adapter bracket to adapt a mini h1 projector (HID) into the place of your old projector. They are meant for spyder headlights but the ones you have look alot like the spyder ones..

im a big backer of not running HIDs unless they are in a proper HID housing so that you arent blinding people. since you live out in the middle of no where and always run with your brights on, what about a set of off road lights? i know this is illegal to run on road but if youre already used to switching off your brights when a car is coming why not try this?
