04-08 Headlights

Hey All,
I've only seen it a few times but it was an 04-08 maybe limited F-150. It was monochromatic w/headlights that had a dark background not like my chrome looking ones.
Was that a special order or part of the limited trim or aftermarket.
I've seen a thread where someone will separate the headlight assy. and paint the inside to make it dark. Won't that make the headlight less bright?
Thanks,

I found these on Amazon. They are OEM headlights. Not sure if this is what you are looking for. identical to the chrome ones, just a black background instead of chrome.

They are just painted buckets. And no, only the round reflector actually directs light, everything that is black is just trim. You can open your headlights and paint it yourself.

Thanks Raptor05121,
Wow, 275k! How'd you do it and what have you replaced? I'd like to hit 250k w/all the original drivetrain...
Any thoughts on upgrading bulbs only, no HID but just straight bulbs?
What about the PIAA H13 xtreme white plus?
Thanks,

Thanks,
I wanted to upgrade my wife's '06 4.6 3v explorer and they didn't make silverstar ultras for neither hers nor mine. This was about a year and a half ago.
I forget which model I got but is was two or three down the line but the best they had for her model.

I need to update that, I'm well past 310K miles now.

I've replaced the engine @75k miles (98 hydrolock issue) and had the clutch replaced at 175K miles. After that, minor things- radiator, A/C compressor, brakes, shocks, and now my balljoints are knocking on my door.

I agree with what \/\/\/ said

The Explorer uses H13 as well, and it came out for the Silverstar Ultra line I think December before last. Personally I'd choose the Philips XtremePowers over the Sylvanias, plus I think they are a bit cheaper. The only downside is no major retailers carry them, you have to order online.
