Overhead dome lighting suggestions?

I am currently in the midst of building a trail/camping truck out of a 2005 F150 FX4 for extended camping trips. I'm looking for some suggestions on changing up the dome lighting to better suit my needs. I'm not using them for anything special except that I want to be able to turn them on and not get that "wow these are crappy and annoying to turn on at night" feeling. I have been looking at the putco bright white replacement LED's and I personally feel LEDs are easier on the eyes at night as apposed to normal bulbs.

Does anyone have these and how are they at night? I hate using my existing dome lights as they really do not provide much useful light (like finding dropped items and such) and end up completely ruining my night vision. Red is also an option but I can't seem to find anything except adding LEDs instead of replacing the dome lights for red.

Also if you have any other suggestions for a trail/camping truck please PM me!

Stay away from Crapco. There are plenty of people running LEDs in the stock dome lights. The PCB chips are going to be the brightest (up to 30lm from a single chip) you can find. Red is a good idea as well, if you can find them.

I found some other threads on this forum and others referring to superbrightleds.com and vleds.com. It seems buying a few replacement led bulbs from this website will be the most cost effective solution. I think I am going to go with a white map light, red map light, and white dome lights. This way I can have it all lit up white, but also use a single red map light for night highway driving.

Those threads confused me. One of those sights changed bulbs...or part numbers, I'm not sure. The pics in the thread are awesome but I don't wanna go buying several leds to try finding the correct ones.

Go to sylvanias website and select your make, model, and year and it will tell you which lamps are in your truck.
