Projector Headlights - looking for expert advice

The sites that sell projector/halo/LED headlights are so confusing. What am I really buying? Do I get the entire assembly, or is it just the guts? What bulbs do I get? What is better Xenon or HID? Do I get 4 bulbs? Besides tools, what else do I need to open the box, install the unit, and drive away with working hi-beams, lo-beams, halos, and LEDs.

Some sites say "these are just the lo-beam kits". Kit??, I thought these were headlights, not kits!! They show an entire headlight assembly!

I am looking at Recon smoked headlights for a 2012 Ford Raptor. They sell for $450-$550 online.

Any help would be great. Thx!

OP: read this first:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/il...ns-v-hids.html

1.) Post a link to what you are looking at and I can tell you what is included.

2.) Depends. Post a link and I can tell you for sure.

3.) If it is one of those cheap halo/angel eyes/LED/projector chinese models that don't lite the road worth a darn, it usually is a H3 and H1 bulbs. Tiny things that are meant as aux lights, not primary headlights. H13 is a much better bulb.

4.) Xenon is HID. Read the link I posted.

5.) Yes.

6.) Some basic electrical knowledge: how to splice, tape, solder, etc.

7.) Usually they sell the dual-bulb model with a H3 HID kit in the low beam projector and a standard H1 halogen in the high-beam reflector.

8.) Save your money and go on eBay. Recon is the same chinese crap you can find online for much less $$$.
