brighter reverse lights

Last night I hooked up to my new trailer for the first time. It was dark and I was trying to use the backup camera on my f150. The camera worked great, but the light from the reverse lights was a little dim. Has anyone on this forum messed around with changing their reverse light bulbs to pick up some more light. I know adding auxillary lights would be best, but I'm just curious if I can pick up a little more light with a simple bulb change. Thanks

You can go with the Sylvania SilverStar mini bulbs ( they have stop/turn/tail and reverse version ).

They are a little bit brighter.
Thing is, how do you define "a little more light" ?

I would say the lumen output from the stock 3156 to the 3156 Silverstar Mini is about an additional 194 bulb worth of lumen, to give you an idea that you can stick a flag in the ground on.

If you have a 194 bulb socket you can temp tag this onto the reverse circuit and hang it next to the reverse lamp area of the tail lamp housing. If you can do this, check if this is enough little more light to see if it is worth it.

Don't bother installing a halogen 3156 bulb, these are generally 50W, and the DTR ( Digital Transmission Range ) Sensor will not take the additional load on the switch, the bulb will not burn at full brightness.

OP, as far as candlepower goes, LEDs will just barely make a difference. For the price you are going to pay for decent lighting, you are better off getting a $20 pair of fog lights from Wally World and bolting them up to the rear of your truck
