Question Headlight Help

Hey guys I need some advice on how to open up headlights, the reason being I bought some Harley Headlamps off a Harley they were parting out, and I noticed that moisture gets inside. So whats the easiest way to open them up and what tools would be better suited for the task, once their open what kind of sealant should I use and how long should I let them dry before I Install them again?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

You don't need to open them up to dry them out. The quick way would be make sure the drain holes in the back aren't clogged and hit them with a hair dryer for a little while. Another way, drill a tiny drain hole, let them sit in the sunlight for a long time until it's gone, and then seal the hole with some rtv silicon.

But if you really want to open them up, you'll have to bake them in the oven for a little bit. I can't remember how long or what temperature but someone else will be able to chime in with that.

One more thing.....be careful what you touch once you open them up.....the reflective coating seems to be more fragile in a HD light than a Chrome stock one....FYI

Thanks, I was looking at both links and maybe you can clarify what I'm getting confused on, the first article said to preheat to said temperature, shut off oven, insert light and then remove. The second article said to preheat to said temperature, then bake, then remove, which one do I do?

Here's the stuff to reseal the head lights..... http://shop.lightwerkz.net/Koito-Butyl-Rubber-Sealer

Or

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=792

There should be a vent patch or hole that's is part of the design of the housing itself....try to maintain this opening for ambient fluxuations as Raptor suggested......the headlight needs to breath per say.....
