Steve, do you have a DMM? I know is sounds elementary, but I would take everything off, put it back to stock, and start checking voltages and resistance on everything, and start adding little by little, checking every time. If you know what you are looking for, you should find the problem, but its a little difficult for us to diagnose over the internet.
