H.I.D. Help!

I am wanting to get some 8000k hids for my truck but don't know where to start?! First off, what is the difference between hids and bi-xenon lights and which is better? Second, do I have to get an hid conversion kit or can I just get the bulbs? Thanks for your help!

www.vvme.com is a good place also www.ddmtuning.com is good but they are getting out of the hid business. you need the conversion kit, which includes a ballast and bulb for each side. Bi xenon will have both high and low beams unlike plain hids which are just low beams. most bi xenon kits also known as hi/lo kits come with a relay harness to power the ballasts and to sitch between high and low beams. if you dont get a hi/lo kit, there is usually an option to add a relay harness, GET It. If you don't most people have problems with them flickering. Then once you get them please re aim your headlights referring to the owners manual on how to do it then go just a tad lower.

What truck?.....you don't list what you want the lights for?

Also at 8000k you're loosing light......stick with 4300k-5000k

And look into a projector retrofit......alot of oncoming drivers will Thankyou for not putting in an hid kit into an oem reflector....

Well said! I'd stay away from anything above 6k unless you really want that blue look and lack of visibility on the road. For retro fit's check out http://www.theretrofitsource.com

When you go 6K above, that's where you lose light output exponentially. Like what azmidget91 said - Bi-xenon is for both High and Low HIDs and xenon is only low hid. You would have to get the conversion kit in order to get more light output, bulbs alone won't do it. Definitely get a relay harness along with Bi-xenon to prevent flickering and smooth transition from low to high and vice versa.

If you state year and model of your truck/car, we will be able to help you out with your decision making.

And welcome to the F150online forum!

go to www.theretrofitsource.com and get a complete retrofit kit. comes with everything you need, ballasts, bulbs, relay harness, projectors, shrouds, glue, and its all quality products with warranties. i recomend the bixenon FX-R stage III with 35w ballast, and 6k bulbs.

the retrofit takes more time but is worth every penny. you get the real advantage of HID lights and you wont be blinding oncoming drivers.

take it from somebody who has had the cheap HID conversion kit that has ballasts and bulbs going out all the time and has the quality retrofit kit on the way.

you can search further in the "lighting and illumination" sub forum for more testimonies to back this up.

Hurry and buy some before they become banned in the USA. Be sure to use them often, cops will be pulling people over left and right for them pretty soon.
