New headlights 2006

I received my HID retrofit kit however I noticed that my headlight housings have all kinds of scratches and nicks from driving for 5 years.

So I want to get new headlights. I have a Saleen grille waiting to go on with the new lights, so I am thinking black like the Harley/FX2 head lights.

I searched but didn't find exactly what I was wanting to know.

So I have a few questions:

1. Ford OEM or 3rd party?
1a. If 3rd party, what brand?
2. What is the best price for what you recommend?

Thanks,

1 doesnt matter but better chance of good quality with OEM. 1a i cant remember what brand mine are for the life of me, but i know more than one brand sells them. i came across them on ebay while looking for harley heads but apparently they arent being sold on there anymore. i got mine for about $140 but have heard they are almost $300 thru most sites that sell them. 2 i would say $300 or less is a good price range...i wouldnt pay more than that. when i found my headlights, the harleys were around $280 or so. also i think HELLA makes lights that are VERY close to stock except the turn signal reflector is a different color i believe.

Tasca has OEM heads, but aftermarkets will be easier to open.

If you buy from Tasca why would you want to open them?

To install HIDs correctly. People that put HID bulbs in non projector headlights are going to blind people!

I used the basic clear-corner aftermarkets sold on ebay for ~$100 shipped. They were easy to open and look great with my retro-fit. Plenty of fowl weather use and offroad abuse, they are doing just fine!

The biggest problem with the aftermarkets from ebay is that so many of them leak, but, for a retrofit they are fine as you will be resealing them anyway. I just got a set of the ebay clear corner lights for ~$100 as mSall150 for a retro myself

yes they usually do leak but with that knowledge why not just seal them with silicone before you even install them? usually the poor sealing job is the only drawback of aftermarkets anyways...and some lose the clear coating, mine did but they took awhile to lose it.

I don't know what you are trying to say here ???? My point is..knowing that there is a good chance for leakage anyway..these lights are a good candidate for a retrofit as you will be taking them apart and sealing them up after the retro is done.
