HID aim?

Ok so I installed a hid kit in my 05 and night time came around and went to adjust them way down to not blind any other drivers.. Adjusted the low beams correctly and then turned on the high beams and one liight appeared to be ok and the other was a good 4-6 inches higher.. I dont want to drive like this blinding others and want to utilize the lights not just low beam so any suggestions would be appreciated.. Oh and yes they are installed in stock lights.. I know I know buy projectors,,,Its on the list..

Even turned down youll give glare to other drivers. And if you high beam is too high it shouldn't matter to other drivers because you shouldn't have them on with on coming traffic ha

I was more concerned with something being wrong with the bulbs/ballast hence the aim issue.

There hids, so in the stock housing your bulbs are already in the high beam position, hence why your lo beams probably look so much brighter than your stock ones. When you click on the high beams it just tries to add more light and fill in the rest of the housing so that's the main reason why you can't aim the highs correctly. You could perhaps try putting the bulb in another way so the filament on it is position differently to match the way the filament sits on the other side.

So long story short there's nothing wrong with your bulbs. As for the ballast all it does is ignite the bulb and provide power so it plays no part in the aiming of them.

Ok so i just looked at the lights from the outside and when the brights go on the bulb retracts and turns shining the light higher, but when the dims go back on the one bulb comes out a little further than the other, so i can assume that is the aiming problem.. Does the intensity change or does just the bulb position change when turning on the brights? If it is just the bulb position can i just turn the bulb on the back so it doesnt change to brights.. I just dont want to half to have new ones ordered in,, They are extremely bright as it is? Or will doing that damage the magnet,, Thanks for the input Pizzaman... Appreciated

The bulb position doesn't change when changing from high's to lows. Thats why most stock bulbs are symmetrical. What changes is what filament lights up. When you have low beams on, the low filament will light. With high beams the high beam filament will light. However with hid's the low beam filament in the stock housing sits where the high beam filament is on a stock bulb in which case normally the high beam is centered on the stock bulb. So in the case of the hid your high beam filament is not centered.

What I'm trying to say about moving the bulb is on the hid the low filament is in one place on it and the high is in another. Think of it as one filament on top of the other. So when you say the high beam is 4 to 6 inches higher on one side, that same side probably has 4 to 6 inches less light at the bottom while probably not noticable. So you can pull the bulbs out on both sides, see which ways the filaments are placed on them and put them back in so they both face the same way. I hope this is making some sense ha

yes makes sense, but from what i read this kit has the magnet and the bulb retracts or extends with hi/low changing. I just thought that changed the position not the intensity,, Ill check it tomorrow during the day and if im still stumped ill take photos.. Thanks.. oh and these are xenons not just different bulbs..and i just looked the bulbs are positioned the same the wire is at about 2oclock on both driver and pass bulbs so i used that as a refrence point..

In that case it looks like one isn't retracting. I figured they were dual filaments because stock bulbs are. Is the 4 to 6 inches really bothering you though? I figured with high beams it wouldn't really make a difference.

You bought cheap chinese bulbs that have crappy magnets. there is no fix for this. Even then, your low beams are high beams because they sit where your old halogen high beam filament used to sit so have fun blinding traffic.

You won't regret it. I've had people stop me in town to check out my lights. One of them has since ripped the HIDs out of his Civic and is about to do a retro
