Switched Power in Engine bay?

Hey everyone, I'm installing some new lights and I want to basically have DRL setup. Does anyone know where I can find a switched power source in the engine bay? I'm trying to avoid drilling a hole through the firewall to get a wire from the fuse panel inside.

Thanks,
Sam.

You need to tell us which model year your truck is, or please fill out your profile information. As good as we are, we can't read minds or see through monitors. Thank you.

I'm not too sure about the newer MY trucks. Send a PM to SSCULLY and see if he has a wiring diagram for it yet.

If you are looking for a hot in Start / run position, you can check

Fuse #54 in the BJB ( aka Battery junction Box, engine Compartment fuse panel ). This is for the 4WD system, backup lamps, trailer tow battery charge relay and the ABS system and does not have a FET installed on the circuit

If you pull this and install an add-a-fuse ( the true add-a-fuse, not the add on to a leg of the fuse that stretches the slot out of shape ) and use this as the trigger a coil on a relay to the battery, you should be good to go.

The items on this fuse are important, but if you happen to have an issue with them, the truck is still functioning.

Hot in Drive or Reverse?

Is there a circuit which is hot when the vehicle is in Drive or Reverse (or whenever the shift is not in Park)?

TIA!

thanks, this helped me alot too!

the add-a-fuse by littelfuse is brilliant because it has two fuse slots.. one for the original accessory, and a secondary for the new circuit. That way if you blow the new secondary, the orignal is still doing it's thing! $6.99 at local o-reilly.
