POS Led Tailights.....

So after a hefty ticket from mr police officer last year for having blackedout taillights I had to order something quick. I went ahead and bought some led tailights off ebay.I like them yet at night you can barely see the difference between just having them on and when I hit the brakes. I know sooner or later some idiot wont be paying attention and will give a nice trailer hit through their hood.

Is there a relay or something that will help dim/brighten the lights when I hit the brakes?

Ill put some pics up once it gets dark

Probably not much you can do. Cheap LED's can do so much.

Like its said above, the LEDs are only designed to put out so much. I have the same problem as well and since I'm getting more and more familiarized with LEDs I'm thinking of dumping my POS chinese LED taillights and make my own build from OEM housings. You could add an in-line resistor (about 200 ohms should do) and dim down the running lights, but apart from ripping out the internals and rebuilding the thing with proper lights, that's all you can do.

I had these on my old motorcycle...

These were OEM quality LED's that were visible during the daytime.

Same here man. I saw the Recons and loved them but got crappy chinese ones for half the price. You get what you pay for.

i went with DEPO just because theres only two syles for flaresides that i've seen and they look pretty good i think, espicially compared to a set of cheap ebay set. mine have distinct brightness increase. my friend has some on his 01 silverado that act the same way as yours and to make matters worse only half of it flashes. is recon really better than quality chinese stuff? the only thing i've personally used from them was my old third brake light and compared to a ebay one, there really wasnt a whole lot of difference...

If I ever retro LED'ed my tails, I'd stick with Osram Lumileds. They are OEM for Acura, GMC, and Cadillac.

a CHMSL only has to do one function though.

I think my LEDs are brighter than the stockers. But I also have my mirror turn signals set to light up with my brakes, and have 4 red leds for license plate bolts. Going to get a line-of-fire under the tailgate.
