Headlight Tint Film question

Hello,
I've installed my smoked headlights but they are way to dark. It looks like a old school tune up, lol. I searched for a long time online but did not find any light smoked headlights for my F150/FX2/2008. So, I'm looking into tinting my original FX2 headlights with the www.lamin-x.com tint (tint 6%).

Is anyone here who applied tint before?

Is there anything I have to be watch out for?

Thanks

i looked at your pics of those lights and they look pretty damn good if you ask me. probably not very practical as far as output goes. speaking of output, care to post any pictures of the output? i'd almost like to get a set. are they the cheapo ebay ones?

@DanielWalker10: They are bad a$$ but they are to dark. the output sucks. I wanted to have some which are a bit brighter, so that you see the chrome housing a bit more. that would give you a IRON look. Then later I would retro fit projectors in them.
I got them from a seller called ZOKU RACING. They fit good, its a bit hard to install the actual bulb, but a bit of grease on the ribber lip and the bulb will fit. I payed ~110 including shipping.

when i get enough money for a retrofit i might get a set like that because im sure a retrofit could shine through decently enough and hid the ugly projectors. lol maybe some silverstars would help a little.

you want 100% clear lenses on projector or you will distort the pattern and scatter the beam

@Raptor. I read an article last night that during day time you will be ok, but at night time the headlight need to brighten up a length of 300 feet. I don't know if thats true.

I though a film color IRON or LIGHT SMOKE (stickercity.com) would not affect the projector beam.

States vary from regulation from regulation, but 300 feet is high beam. For Florida, low beam must be 150 and highs 400

lamin-x is pretty good stuff i actually have it on both of my motorcycles and once it warms up out here i will be doing the tails and the third brake light. I will tell you it is a tad on the hard side to work with if you dont keep it wet.

thats what she said! lol but as far as lamin-x goes, i think it would be a lot better if you could take it off and put it back on like you can the covers. and does it drastically cut down on light output?

As you can see its not nearly as dark as the headlights he bought but i think it added a nice little touch as far as looks go.
