HID confusions. Help answer my questions please.

OK so a few questions about HIDs. I cant seem to find my answers via google/yahoo
1. FX-R projectors vs just a "normal" projector? are fx-r projectors just normal projectors or is there a difference? (consider that both projectors have a HID bulb in them of course)

2. 35w v 55w- Is it simply just a brightness difference?

3. Im considering these...

Heres the question portion. I have been told that if i want HID low and high beam i would want bi-xenon so i dont have a lag when switching from high to low for warmup of the bulb. So if i get these lights can i use bi-xenon in these lights? if so do i still need to use a halogen in the other space since its made for separate high and low bulbs?

4. What do i use for a fog light HID? should i use a projector so i dont have the glare in the eyes of on coming traffic?

5.What color is the purest of white when it comes to HIDs? 6000? 8000?
i dont want purple or yellow. I want really white. maybe a little blueish since my trucks blue but very little if its possible.
Thanks a lot for any help guys

I have no idea about those projectors, but 55w 6000k is the way to go. There is a huge difference in light output over the 35w. In the fogs, make sure you go 35w though, don't want them to melt with the extra heat the 55w pushes out.

I have yet to see a projector housing for the foglights. Most just use a 35w kit and aim them down.

As for the bi-xenon thing, the picture you posted has two projectors in each headlight. Thats a total of four, so you need two HID kits. Thats four ballasts, four starters, and four "single filament" bulbs. I have no idea how you would hook that up to your factory wiring, as the stock headlight only has one dual filament bulb in each.

Click this, then go to the second result.

And stay away from DDM Tuning HID products. I hate to publicly "bash" a company, but I've had nothing but bad luck with their stuff. Their customer service, however, is awesome. I know that because I've talked to them............ALOT. I've been through three kits myself, and my co-worker has gone through two. We are both currently running the OEM halogen setup, as they have failed again. I need to call them and just see if we can get our money back. I't only been ~6mos.

ok so 55w 6000k bulbs is the choice. excellent. The kit that i have in the picture comes with a 35w kit for low beam. Could i just simply take that 35w kit and install it in the fog lights and purchase a 55w bi xenon system and plug it right into that headlight housing? Will the 55w melt that housing? fade the black color? This route should keep me around $460 total for housings, bi xenon headlight bulbs, and 35w non projector fog lights.

I have seen a retro job on here but it cost about $900 which just isnt an option here. But with that job there wasnt a second projector in the headlight housing that wasnt being used. This seems to be the case with the housings i have picked. Anyone know of a housing with just one projector in it? or an idea for the second projector in this housing?

the 35w kit that comes with the headlights will be the wrong bulb type for your fog lights.

Please list the link for these lights. I searched eagle motor sport and did NOT find anything.

As for me, I had 55w HID but removed them due to too many oncoming cars flashing me. 6000k is the color you want. brilliant white. No blue at all.

I did order a set of halo/HID with LED's but they have a 35w HID 6000k.
If these projectors are a bit too dim, I could always insert my older 55w.

Well, I have had several HID kits from DDM, and I still have to get one that fails (1 on Yamaha R1, slim 6k one me one for a friend, 1 on GSXR slim 6k, 1 on F150 Raptor Hi/Lo 5k)
All of them 35W.

If yo go with 55W, then yes 6k will be whiter, if it is 35W, then go with 5K as it is the whitest.

did you have the 55w in a projector headlight set up for HIDs? Could be more the cause of oncoming drivers flashing you...???

To respond the the original post, Here is a link to my recent post.
https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...id-w-leds.html

The lights u have pictured, as with mine too, need a little help to work with HIDs as I noted in my writeup. The FXr retros seem to be setup for HIDs whereas my headlights (and probably the ones you hav pictured too) are set up for halogens. HID bulbs are longer and brighter so the light is in a different spot n different intensity. Retro's do work better right out of the box and I THINK put off brighter light. I will be upgrading to 55w for brighter light output. But you can make other projectors work. When i say "work", I mean achieving a light cutoff pattern (the purpose of projectors) Good luck

And if you go with Bixenons in the projector, you will have to do some rewiring because currently, the lights are wired to send the HiBeam signal to the other set of lights (the inner, nonprojector lights) in the setup you have pictured. And if you do that, you will no longer use those inner lights.

Oh... and there are some projector fog lights out there. But who knows if they work worth a darn. I'll find a link.

Those headlights have an H7 bulb for the low beam and an H3 bulb for the high. You could but a bi-xenon kit in the low beam projector but keep the high beam a regular halogen so you retain the "Flash-To-Pass" ability.

I know 15 to 20 guys (including myself)who have kits from DDM that have countless hours on the kits without a problem. Not to just bash you but alot of people have no idea how to properly place and protect the kits. No matter what company you choose to buy from you will have a problem sometime. Lets start a company here in the states, anyone wanna be a business partner? Just my 2 cents fellas.

Ok, so I hear some different opinions on HID's in this thread and others. I'm considering them for my 05 and I've read not to use them in stock headlight assemblies. If so, what are my other options beside doing the retro-fit? I do not want the halo's, just the HID's. Or should I just go with a more powerful halogen? Thanks for the help.

You can upgrade your H13 bulb if you haven't already. Check out the stickies in this section
