No Luck

I replaced the control **** and it's still hot. Looks like I'm going to have to investigate further. I was hoping for an easy fix!

pfatstrat, any luck?

I have a similar problem. My temperature control seems to have a mind of its own. I changes from hot to cold with no inputs from me. I replaced the electrical doohickey behind the **** and that did nothing. I guess either blend door or blend door actuator is broken.

Does anyone have a diagram of where the blend door/actuator are located?

Lightbulb How does it work ?

Exactly how does the blend door work ?
Is it electrically operated ?
The tempature control seems like it's a simple varible resistor.

Stephen_T,
if you replace the actuator, then your problem is the blend door, it's broken. It's just flapping back and forth.

pfatstrat,
you need to replace your blend door actuator, first I would try switching ***** with the fan speed ****, and see if that fixes it.

iron horse,
you're welcome, the reason you are smelling the coolant now, is probably because it was built up behind the blend door, when you changed the ****, and opened the door, it let the coolant out into the case. Time for a core. That's all kinds of fun. Good luck.

Blend Door Actuator

Where do I pick one of these up (blend door actuator)? Anybody have a good source besides hitting up the local Ford dealers?

Panel removal for temp switch replacement

I know whats wrong with my truck, unfortunately I'm having trouble taking off the panel in front of the temp control switch and around the **** in order to replace my control switch... for those with continued difficulty after replacing the **** this may be your issue too.... I replaced the **** but still had no temp change when rotated. My control switch was busted and I purchased a new one (only19 bucks not bad) but now I can't figure out how to install the friggen thing. HELP!
