Not cold in Florida

I have an 05 crew cab FX4. It has never been a very cold AC in my opinion. The other day I drove it to work and it was probably 90 degrees when I left and by the time I got to work it was just starting to get comfortable. I drive about an hour to work. When I left for home the next morning and it was in the low 70's the AC felt great. I've had it checked out over the years several times. As recent as a month ago and the mechanic said everything was fine. Is this normal for an 05 F150? I've had the truck 10 years now and it has never been a cold AC system on hot days. I drove my VW jetta to work tonight and it was cold within 5 minutes as a comparison. I have almost 100k on the truck. Everything was replaced in the AC system about 10 years ago.

If air is blowing out of the vents at 40-47 degrees, it's working fine. A little thermometer to put in the vent will cost about $10, buy one.
