A/C always on??

My truck seems to blow cold air all the time. I was driving to work today and it was about 80 degrees outside but I only had the climate control set to floor/def ( no A/C on ). The temperature of the air hitting my feet was freezing! Definitely much colder than ambient outside air temp. Is it possible that my A/C is always on? What would cause that? Has anybody got any comments or suggestions? Thanks...

Yes , it's on in A/C, DEF, FLR/DEF. I put in a cutout switch on mine.

My advice here: RTFM. (Read The Friggin' Manual.)

Only the "Floor" and "Vent" positions blow fresh air. All other positions blow chilled air (except "Off", of course). This is the way Ford HVAC controls have worked since the dawn of time.

Thanks for your replies. I also have a '95 Taurus LX and that ain't the way the climate control works in that car. DEF and floor is all air at ambient outside temp. The only time the air conditioning is on is when the thing is set to A/C or MAX A/C.

I gotta diagree with the dawn of time thing. We've recently have or still own a 89 Ranger, 95 Sable, 94 Mustang, 89 Grand Marq and none have operated that way. The Ranger had the best controls, you just pushed the fan speed **** in when you wanted A/C. You could have it on or off in all vent settings. It also had more vent positions/combinations than the others. Too bad the A/C leaked freon constantly heheh

Mashie: All cars/trucks run the A/C on defrost.
