I have a 2010 Platinum F150 SuperCrew. There is an auto button and you can select the temperature you want and I believe the truck controls the fan speed and the temperature of the air coming out? When I go out to my truck and it's 40 degrees outside but I have the temperature set to 70 degrees and the auto selected the heater doesn't start blowing air out until it the truck warms up.

Is the heater waiting until the air temperature is at least the temperature I have it set to? In the example mentioned above 70 degrees and if I had it set to 80 degrees would it be longer until the heater started blowing out air. Or is this all wrong and there is a sensor that tells it the temperature inside the truck and it starts blowing out the air from the heater when it is higher than the temperature inside the cab of the truck.

Also, is there a way to control where the air is coming out when it is set to auto?(floor, vents, windshield, etc.)

 

I have this in my 03 and with mine when it is set on automatic it willl blow on high until the temp gets close then it will slow the fan speed to keep it at that temp. On my truck it does 60 then goes to 65 up to 90. 70 degrees on my truck would still be cool air. i have to bump it up to 76 or 77 for warm air to come out.

If i am reading this right are you saying that no air is coming out until the truck warms up? That sounds strange it should be blowing as soon as the truck is started up and of course get warmer as the truck warms up. I usually dont use the automatic mode in mine.
And i dont think there is a option for where the air comes out, with automatic mode it comes out the vents.

I know i have a 03 but ive seen the newer trucks and they operate the same as mine.

It's been cold in the morning and I have the temperature set on 78 and auto and nothing comes out until I am a couple miles away from my house. Then it kicks on. I'm assuming it wasn't coming on until it was able to blow out warm air but i was trying to figure out how it determined when it should start blowing air.
