during a 300 mile trip this weekend my a/c unit started to act wierd. it would start to blow warm air, and then when i turned it off for a short period then turned it back on it would get ice cold and then cycle to warm. it wouold also not allow me to use "panel",, non a/c position, and then go to a/c. the compressor would not cycle on at all. after sitting over night the a/c is operating perfectly. ..could it have over heated the compressor? any suggestions

You probably have the answer by now but it could be the compressor cycle switch going out causing the compressor not to turn on. Low on refrigerant or if you were running you’re A/C with the fan on low for a long time this could let the moister freezes around the fins of the evaporator and thus not allow the cold air to flow through to the vents. I would bet on the later because you are in Florida and I’m sure you have high humidity their.

i had the cycle switch changed, it seemed to work, however out of the clear blue last week the a/c did it again suddenly went to blowing warm air. i had to turn it off and let it stay off for a little while then turn it back on. it would stay cold for a minute and then go back to blowing warm air. now it has gone back to acting normal.. its the hardest thing, because when you take it to the dealer it works fine.

See you are still having the A/C problem. Never got mine fixed either. Our trucks are almost identical, right down to the faulty A/
C. I have to believe that someone at ford knows about this problem, just that our dealers have not bothered to read all of the TSBs to figure it out. The temp here are now in the 20s/40s, so will be a while before I get mine fixed. Pls let me know when you finally figure it out.

i thought i had it fixed... they repalced the cycleing switch and it semed to do the trick... but it started doing the same thing again,, today its fine,,, but its very inconsistant. i really wish it was broke toatlly so they could address the probelm.. when i go to the dealer they tell me "its supposed to do that... well i guess that air conditioners are supposed to blow warm air. i realize that it cycles on and off during the trip, but when all it will do is blow warm and turning it on and off makes it work for a while then kicks off,,, i cant believe that. totally frustrated. sounds like we both have the same problem.. i will keep you updated. let me know when it warms up if you correct your a/c problem,,, if there are any a/c techs out there willing to help ,,,please speak up..cpafay see you on the super crew board
