Post A/C water drain

When I use the A/C and come to a stop, the water drains onto the shield above the cat conv. This makes a loud 'water in the hot frying pan' sound. Is this normal for F150s? It freaks out people standing next to the truck. It can't be good for the exhaust either.

Mine does the same thing. The first time I heard it, I was "disturbed" to say the least. NORMAL? That's certainly in the eyes of the beholder.

Has anyone done a reroute of the drain to fix this?

Must be a 2000 thing. My '99 doesn't do that, nor did my '97.

I'm assuming that's what I hear. I've also got a 2000. Wonder why Ford designed the truck this way.

My 1997 drains on the right upper A-frame, rear rubber bushing. No sounds from there.

Hey mine does this too. At first, hearing it from inside the cab, I thought it was coolant 'percolating' back into the fill reservoir. But after investigating when and how it happens, it's dripping onto the catalytic shield. I'd be really interested to know if anyone has re-routed their drain to stop this. TIA.

I asked the same thing when my truck was new 7 months ago. Every time I came to a stop light it sounded like snap, crackle, and pop. Brought it to the dealer and the said it was normal. Since then I think it stopped, or at least got better. Maybe you just get used to it.

Angry

I have the same problem,
I noticed it last night...
I bought my truck 1 week ago
and yesterday I got my windows tinted,
therefore had to use the A/C alot
throughout the day, and then I started to hear
the wonderful sound of water dropping on a
gleamming hot frying pan.. Not exactly very
attracting to people outside looking at your
nice wheelz, then hearing a "Tsssssssss"
"pop" "pap" "Tssssssss"
I mean Ford could of spent an extra 50 cents
on a hose than runs the drain just a couple of inches to the left and avoided this annoying sound..... I tell ya, I am not impressed so far with they're design engineers......
And to think that they noticed that this was a
probalem on theyre 97-99 models, that they were
leaking on the O2 sensor, so they move the drain
so it leaks on the cat converter....
I mean common, move it another Freakin 2 inches.. Theres no excuse for this crap..!
Pissed Off Ford truck owner,
Besides that,so far I "love" my truck....
