I took some temp readings with my fluke dmm...hot outside 92-95...sitting still it would get down to mid to upper 60's maybe coming out...driving it would get to low 60's and as soon as I let off the gas it would go back to upper 60's. After driving a while it was getting to 58-59 at best. I didn't get to do much testing but I did get in the wifes armada and it would get to mid to 40's driving and maybe hit 50 off the gas and say for a min. Now she had ran her car for a while before...where as mine had been sitting in the heat all day...but I did drivemine for at least 15-20 min. Maybe I need to get my freon checked. It's a 05 fx4...

Took some reading this morning...out side temp was about 75...out the vents was in the 40's the whole time....mostly mid 40's then up to upper 40's when I stopped and sometimes lower 40's. Thats how it should be....felt good. I will see what it does after sitting in the sun all day and its hotter out side.

Now that the sun is out more...driving its in the mid 50 rang going to 60 when I stop but hasn't gone lower than 53. Sitting in the parking lot for about 5 min yields a constant 60. I might do some more testing with the armada...but it seems to be about 10 deg warmer in the f150. I hope im just low on freon and not stuck with the warmer temps. It also every now nad then will stop cooling all together and the temp shoots to in the 70s like the compressor shut off...but only last for a couple seconds and then starts cooling again.

Do you hear a thump in the dash when you lose air for a couple seconds? Mine does that to.

I am afraid to say I do not think anything is wrong with our trucks its just how this AC system works....

I haven't noticed any sound when I loose the a/c...I only have had the truck for a week today...still figuring it all out. It just seems that its not a cold enough system...I have a friend that can check my freon level...I am hopeful it needs some. At night or when the sun isnt fully out the a/c is good blowing 40something degree temps...just when the sun comes out its mid 50-60 temps.

Yep I love my Ford but GM sure does know how to make an AC system. Your sounds EXACTLY how mine operates. I bet you find nothing wrong, but please keep us in the loop.

Also listen for the thump when you loose cold air, mine does that all the time but cold air always come back.

Think I cured my AC today. Got to 92 here today. Been searching and reading posts about low airflow when coming to a stop. Get e fans seemed to be the concensus. I stuck a smoking rag up close to the rad and it barely would pull the smoke in. Then I remembered reading a post or 2 bout the fan clutch being weak on theirs. Went to a local bone yard and scored a clutch with 22,000 on the clock. Before I installed, I hit the condensor coil with my infared temp gun. Read out 120 deg. After the install, took another reading with the truck in full sun. Read 80 deg. and it sucked all the smoke thru no problem. Also the compressor quit cycling. I now have cold air sitting in park or at a light. Maybe this will help some of you guys.
