compressor making a knocking noise

I know its broke but do you think that I could get away with just rebuilding it and replacing the orifice tube or will I need to replace the drier/accumulator as well.

Going through the same problem here. I've been told that it's highly recommended to replace the accumulator too. (Another $85!) I figure it's worth it as I'd hate to have other problems with the A/C down the road. With 10 years and 120,000+ miles, I'm not taking any chances. BTW do you or anybody else know what the difference between a standard and an automatic adjusting orifice tube is (besides about $25-$30)? I think it has something to do with what climate your in but I"m not sure.
