How do I take the ac clutch out.

Hi all.

My truck is a 2003 lightning. The ac compresser is making a nasty bearing noise.

I have removed the front cover, saving the shim washers, the snap ring. The idler pully does not come off ealy. I tried gently ... gently, to pry the idler off. Is there a pully tool I need, or am I missing something?

The seach did not find the answer for me.
Thanks for the help.

I pried my idler pulley off with a pair of screwdrivers.

Just watch out because the outer "lip" of the pulley is quite narrow. If you push the tip of the screwdriver in too far, it will get under the coil which is pressed on and is a lot more difficult to get off (and usually not desired).

Look at your replacement pulley and see how shallow the outer lip is. There is very little clearance between the inside of that lip and the coil.
