air coming out of window vents, normal???

I notice that the little vents right next to the driver and passenger window are always blowing a little bit of air on every setting, except when just dash vents only are selected. For example if I select floor only, some air still comes out of the side window vents. The only way the side window vents completely shut off is when the dash vents are the only ones selected.

Is this normal????

It is normal for there to be some airflow out the side demister vents anytime there is air coming out the defroster. They are usually on the same "outlet" path.

I mapped out the vent configuration on my truck (2006 F150) and apparently they way the vents and diverter doors are set up, if you have airflow set on floor or defrost you will get some air thru the window vents. The only way you get air to not come out of the window vent is when you have just dash vents selected only. The dash vents move the first divertor door to totally block up the floor/defrost/window air passage.

It's just annoying................
