Paralyzer, is there any way you can find a picture of the actual airflow? Like where it routes???? I do have 4 actuator motors. My buddies '06 has only 3... Now, the upper one (supposedly the panel door) doesn't work freely even without the motor on it. The bottom one (the floor/defrost door) moves freely without the motor on it, but the motor itself only appears to move about 1/8 turn and seems to creak to a halt when activated. Do I need to pull the dash to see if something is stuck in there on the top door?? I'm only getting more confused. The actuator motors themselves appear to be working properly when not attached to the doors.......

GSXrbots, Did you ever get this figured out? I have a 2004 Lariat with the electronic controls. Mine stopped working yesterday. Also, I can not control the blend either. It will not get cold or hot, just warm.
If you replaced the motors, please share where you got them and how much.
Thanks
Jeff

Actually yes, I did get it figured out. There was a piece of foam (probably from assembly) that worked its way down into the heater box and stuck one of my doors shut. It had adhesive on it, so it wouldn't let the door do anything. Basically, if you have the same problem I did, this is what you have to look forward to:

It is back together, and working flawlessly now. I didn't replace either motor.

I removed the dash just like gsxrbots about 6 months ago for the same problem, removing foam that jammed the mode door. (this foam is actually the backing of the mode door to get it to seal properly, I replaced it with felt adhesive).

Anyway, as far as instructions, lol, I'm not typing out the 2 pages it will take to explain it. It took me about 2 days of labor, you have to remove the airbag, steering wheel, all the guages, and the good part is the whole dash comes out in one piece, but you do need someone to help you move it.

I followed the directions in the Chiltons repair manual, you can buy it for about $20 in any auto store. I'd recommend buying that, it also has a few pics of the dash removal. I followed the proicedure step by step and it wasn't that hard, just time consuming. Only hard part was taking off the steering wheel, you need a 3 prong puller.

Good luck

Ok I thought I had a jammed door from something dropping in. But I think I have an intermittent motor problem. When I watch the assembly. It only occassionally will activate and spin around. I'm assuming One extreme is Vent and the other defrost with the lower level activating the floor? In switching it into different modes it would only move and work properly 1 out of 20 or so times.

Do you think this just a motor?

I have the same issue on my 2006 F150.
I am going to attempt the fix myself and will take pictures of the process.
Wish me luck!

When I did mine and had to rip the whole dash out, when I reassembled the dash I used blue locktite on all the major bolts. Just to make sure I never get dash rattles
