A/C blows cold then warm, Dealer says system charged!

Hello All,

My A/C has never really been very cold since I've bought my truck new in 07. But I've noticed that the A/C will be blowing cold then if I accelerate quickly or get on the gas that it will blow warm for a minute or two then start blowing cold again.

The dealer said that system is charged within specs, so no help from them......does anyone else have this problem. You would think that if the engine speeds up that the A/C would blow colder not hotter....

I don't know, does anyone have an idea, it's really Hot down here and I don't think my dealer knows what they are talking about.....

Thanks - Andy

Mine does the same thing! OMG finally I found someone with the same problem. Have you noticed a thud noise like a inlet door slamming closed when this occurs? I do. I have the auto climate control, I think this is the cause and it might just be normal operation.

under hard acceleration the A/C clutch is dissengaged to prevent compressor damage from high RPM and not rob so much power when trying to pass on the freeway.

Paralyzer - Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. I wouldn't have thought thats why it was doing it......I appreciate the help.

WreedKR - I didn't notice any thud, or at least if its there I can't hear it.....sounds like you may have another issue other than the compressor dis-engaging.....

You need to check the vacuum res which should be under the hood normally behind the battery box. It may be cracked or leaking. Also check the vacuum lines to it and the check valve that should be in-line.

07 does not use vacuum to operate the HVAC. It's all electric actuators.

Exclamation

I brought mine into the dealer yesterday for this exact problem! The Ford tech said everything checked out. But,he did say that he has had to replace some fan clutches for failing, which means if it is not working properly it cannot keep the condensor cool enough, thus, making the a/c blow warm air! If mine keeps doing this they will replace the fan clutch under warranty;but,it has to repeat the problem for them in able to replace it!

Really!!! Well looks like I'm taking mine back, it's getting worse since I last posted. Must be some faulty components or something. Thanks for the update!

A/C blows hot

My 07 F150 crew has always had cold air. It blows hot, but the lines are still cold, and the clutch is engaged. It was intermittent until last week. Now, blows hot all the time.

Ideas?

Andy

in canada there was a new tsb for this concern 11/3/08 for a new blend door actuator, says it will "hunt between hot/cold or stay static hot/cold,sounds like this is your problem.

Tsb

Ant chance of getting more details on this TSB, my dealer says there are no tsb's or recalls on my truck.
What years does it apply?

Thanks
Ed
