A/c Fan Noise

2001 F-150 S/CREW 5.4L. Has been making a faint noise with fan on kind of like plastic blades hitting paper or plastic etc. Wife of course wants it fixed right away! I of course have been doing the Ostrich manuver. Now she said the other day the noise got real loud but when I rode in it yesterday I of course couldn't hear it. Does anyone know what the basic steps are to getting at the fan motor/ fan to check it out?
Thanks!

Pull the blower assembly out and inspect it for a noisy bearing. Removal is straight-forward

Inspect the immediate area within the plenum for any trash, paper, etc that might have been hitting the blower wheel. You likely sucked in a candy wrapper or some other small piece of trash.

The "ostrich strategy" usually doesn't work for too long. Don't ask me how I know that...
