A/C Stops Blowing During Acceleration

I've noticed that lately my A/C has been cutting out during acceleration. It stops blowing out of the main vents and doesn't start blowing again until I either back off the throttle or level out on my speed. Also, it kind of makes a popping noise when it starts back up. I've been told that it is supposed to turn off during WOT, and that is understandable, but it's happening every time I take off from a stop sign or red light.

Does anybody have an idea as to what could be causing this? Bad switch or sensor somewhere? Vacuum Leak? Something else?

i had a 1994 taurus that did it for the 5 years i had it. when it was real hot out side i would keep my foot out of it. my 1996 taurus does not do it that. Maybe it is normal i dont know that is all i can tell you

The airflow is defaulting tot he defrost, it isn't going away.

You have a vacuum leak in the supply to the control head, most likely. Many posts in this section how to troubleshoot.

This is not a "normal" condition although it seems normal for Fords to develop this failure.

i heard after a certain throttle position is reached the computer shuts it down so all the power can go directly to the motor for hard accelration.

Has nothing to do with the blower, only the A/C clutch

Plus, is only on later model F-series starting around 99.

After searching around the board I went and inspected the white vacuum line coming out of the harness, and sure enough it was dry rotted all to hell. I ran down to Pep Boys and found some rubber hose (I believe it was Windshield Washer Vacuum Line) that fit snuggly around it, and used it to replace the rotted section. A/C works like a champ now. Thanks for the info.
