Hey guys I have a 98 5.4. The ac hasnt been cooling as it should so I go by my dads and we hook up some gauges. We hook up on the connector with the L on it right? It is showing 65+ lbs of pressure??? How is that possible? So I let some out and it came down to around 45 which was somewhat close to normal (i think) and the compressor cut off totally. Nothing but hot air. No cycle at all. So we added a little back it started cycling again. So it is now siting around 55lbs and it is blowing nothing but hot air but the compressor stopped cycling as often. Any thoughts on this??? Thanks a lot.

 

You might have a flow blockage, but it sounds more like a compressor failure going on. Take the system down and check the orfice tube for metal shavings or a black coating on the tube.
