A/C Not work

A/C Not work
The A/C worked last year fine. Turned it on once this winter and no cold air came out. Now at present...nothing. Can't even feel/hear if the compressor kicks in. Don't think so. I found two fuses that seem ok and a "relay" in the fuse box tha tI couldn't check. Any ideas?

if its low on freon the compressor won't click on at all, but it can be bypassed to check out the system

Thanks...I just heard at work that a service station in town will test the A/C for free. I'm on my way there for lunch. I'll post back what he says. I forgot about him. He is an honest mechanic.
