Interior Temperature Sensor issue?
Interior Temperature Sensor issue?
Hi all,
I just recently bought an '02 King Ranch that has the climate control system.
My '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee also had a similar system in it, which worked very well...I LOVE that auto-climate stuff
However, I have noticed in my F150, I have to set the temperature at what I would guess to be around 5-10 degrees higher than it is actually in the cab in order to get the unit to the temperature I want.
My next task will be to put a thermometer in the truck just so I know who/what is detecting the correct temperature, but it just seems to me that when I set the temp to, say...70 degrees, the climate control shuts down (or goes into "maintenance mode" when the cab is only around 65 or so.
In other words, the HVAC system thinks the cab is hotter than it actually is.
The rest of the system seems to work fine. I turn it all the way up and get great heat, turn it down and get good A/C...just having trouble with the temp sensor!?!?
Anyone else had this trouble? I assume I can just swap out the sensor, and it is pretty inexpensive, but I just wondered if anyone else has had similar issues.
Thanks!

After more checking, I suspect it's just me...
Thanks for the thought, That didn't even occur to me!
I found an old dial thermometer, and have been keeping it in the truck, though it won't EASILY attach to the dash where the sensor is, but I have been keeping it sitting in my console over the weekend, and apparently the cab sensor IS about right. So far anyway, though we haven't had much cold weather lately to check it in. But so far it looks to be pretty correct.
Unfortunately, it appears it might have been the JEEP that was incorrect, and just kept the cab hotter than the actual temperature...over the years I got used to that, so now an actual 70 degrees feels cooler than what my jeep trained me was 70 degrees.
Anyway, thanks for burning a few brain cells on my behalf
I do appreciate it.
I guess I'll just keep an eye on it for a bit and do some self-adjusting
