Same problem in my 05 supercrew, the recirculate works fine but blasting the air on high is still not enough to stay comfy in the cab. I took it to the dealer and of course they said there was no problem, then I contacted Ford through their website, a lady called me back from Ford and when I explained to her my problem she says that she has never heard anyone complain of the air not cooling enough, I find that hard to believe after reading all the post on here.
Same here Belllman
I have the same problem and there is no need to waste you rtime with calling Ford since they just say they never heard of a problem(which is a lie when you read all these posts) and since the dealer says it is OK then it is OK. Great customer service, right? I will never buy from Ford again and I have had about 18 Ford products over the years. I will only buy Toyotas from now on. TUNDRA ALL THE WAY.
I also have a problem with my 06. Mine blows hot air at idle(stop lights, parking lots). Then works fine at crusing speed. Dealer replaced cycle switch but this did not fix the problem. I'm now out of warranty and very pissed!
Thanks Ford! Otherwise love the truck.

well .. after severe procrastination on my part, I finally got my AC fixed. turns out the main problem was a valve, I believe the lower accumulator valve.
they replaced it, evac'd and recharged the unit, and it now blows cold as crap. and the best part is, I got in, hit auto, and drove off with the AC blowing cold .. no more turn on the vent, make everyone in the truck be quiet while I hit the AC button and hope the compressor comes on and I hear it click.
they also completed a service update on the AC no idea what it was.
Once again, I was very impressed with Tomball Ford.

Well for those of you suffering the EXACT symptoms above, (2006 eatc), hot air at light stop but cold ice air when moving, hot air when started and IDILING , then cold air then hot ect(compressor clicking on and off 10 sec intervals, until start to drive then on constantly).... and ford saying there is nothing wrong.- after 4 long years of putting up with this i finally decided to get a newer ac control panel from a bone yard . Well guess what? That turned out to be the answer. Ford was right though, the freon levels were right, and blend doors were working and all other sensors for eatc and soforth flawless, but the dang eatc panel itself was the defect. I read somewhere that there is a eatc test, which i would always do, but i guess it did not recognize that the problem was itself. So I just opened up the both eatcs and switched chip boards( the bone yard one had scrathes on the face and lens, very very super easy to swap) and presto problem finally fixed. So screw the dont press auto but gotta press panel first, then hit ac switch then press recycle and vice versu when shutting down truck. (those who suffred this know what i am talking about)
I am in Phoenix and I am experiencing issues with my a/c… At best, from an enclosed garage, it works ok. It has to blast on hi to "somewhat" maintain the temperature. If you go out to a store or whatever and have to park in the sun, you are in for a long ride on the way home. Eventually, it does cool down... It takes about 15 minutes. I am exploring putting better window tint on to assist in the thermal absorption into the cab. It is too bad to own a truck for a few months and have it not work too well. Other than that, it is a great truck.
I have read a few things such as two cores vs. four core radiators (Desert Package) which makes sense a little... The thing that does not though is out of the garage, with an otherwise cold car, you would think the a/c would blow colder... To me with a cold car, the cooling aspect of things has less of an affect. As things heat up, it comes more into play. Just my opinion...
Other things such as a clogged orifice tube and trying exotic additives are bunk imo… I also read one post said it could be one of the two gases is low, out of balance, and might need to get it fixed… Huh? Do cars have dual gas set-ups nowadays?
Are there any other owners out there with this issue?
~DD
P.S. The thing that is frustrating, is my other car works like a champ and barely has to work on keeping the interior cool and it is a 3 year old.

I've been putting up with a sub-standard AC on my 2007 FX4 since i bought the truck. Had it into the dealer last fall, and they said I had a faulty schraeder valve and the system was only half full of cooling agent. Took their word for it, drove it thru the winter without much thought about it. Then this spring, start running the AC, and it is lousy again. This time the truck is at 44k miles (past warranty). I get a song and dance about how its not their problem, but finally get them to look at it. Turns out that the system was about third low on cooling agent. They recharge unit and make it sound like they've just done me a big favor. Stunned, I ask them about a possible leak. They say they can't find one. I say how can a closed system be one third low and not have a leak? They say that if they can't find a leak they can't fix it, and round and round we go. they also say that it is possible there is no leak, they just failed to fully fill the AC system up last time. I sit stunned at this circular logic... We either have a leak or shoddy workmanship...neither of which the dealer seems interested in taking responsibilty for. I leave with the dealer pretty much saying I'll probably have to recharge system every spring (on my own dime).
So now I'm at a crossroads. The original fix was done at 34k miles and still under warranty. The dealer says that that work is warranteed for 12k/12 months. Technically, i am still under that warranty. But, the dealer says that the schraeder valve work rec'd the warranty, and not the whole AC system. And the schraeder valve is working fine. I did get him to agree to test the level of cooling agent in 6 months to confirm there is a leak, but after that, I'm not sure what we'll do.
The whole thing has me a bit pissed off. This combined with several other problems with the truck (most serious a front end alignment problem...wobbles like a paint mixer at 70 mph) have got me looking at other manufacturers (this after having previously owend 7 Ford trucks).
I think this dealer and Ford know there are defects with the AC, but are unwilling to fix due to the associated expenses. Unacceptable...just not sure what I can do.

Well one last update from all of the posting i did for about four years of the blows cool then hot , on all my hot engine start ups., or at lights. I changed electronic panel, low and high pressure switch and guess what it was all this time. FAN CLUTCH, FAN CLUTCH. Funny how all visits to ford and all was to spec. Also funny is that the truck never overheated. Why fan clutch, was not pulling enough air through condensor and would cause high pressure, thus tripping the high pressure switch and cut the compressor off. Jhunt and others who said fan clutch, you were right.

Air conditioner probs 2006 King Ranch F-150
I too am having problems with my truck. Glad I checked back in on this site. I will try every remedy on here and see what is going on.
My problem was it cooled just fine when I started up. After about 20-30 minutes, all of the vents would shut and the blower seemed to go on full blast and it sounded like the air was trying to blow out from the bottom of the windshield. NOT the vents. If I would stop and kill the engine and let it sit for a while, I would start it back up and it would be fine. Then 20-30 minutes later, the same thing...
Of course , All mighty FORD said nothing was wrong and calling FORD they say they have not heard a single complaint....bastards.
I am interested in getting on with the lemon law if you folks are serious...this absolutely SUCKS!!!
Great forum folks and way to work together and spread the news!!

So its the fan clutch? My a/c sucks and also makes a lot of noises like rattling marbles and when I go from defrost to vent you can hear something opening or closing that sounds like a loud fart noise and I have no idea what it is... Any suggestions? Truck is an 06 with the Auto climate control.
