HVAC question

Now that cooler weather is soon upon us I soon need to look into my heater problem as well as finish my AC problem. Basically my problem and question is as follows:
For those who have read my previous thread my AC clutch went out back in July. With many other mechanical problems, work hours and kids sports I still have to get the clutch on, but the old one is off.
Around the same time as my AC went out I(out of curiousity) turned on my heat and found out I have no heat either. I'm unfamiliar with most components in the HVAC system so my question is can the AC affect the heating problem. I do have the AC compressor bypassed with the drive belt, I put a shorter one on so the truck could run.
<EDIT> My blower does work, I basically get outside temperature air. And it does make some slight noise when going to the dashboard vents, but not to the floor vents or defroster. <EDIT FINISHED>
Basically I'm trying to weigh how much time I have before cool weather arrives vs how many repair items I need to complete(still have many suspension problems too, things falling apart on me!).
If anyone has any knowledge of these items let me know so I don't waste my time, or I take some long needed vacation to get 'er done.

Thanks!

Do you have heat at the heater hoses? does your temp **** work properly ( some will turn ok but have a cracked base where it slips over the shaft on the control. ) it turns but does not turn the control and leaves everything on cold. very common prob. I did not understand if you can get air out of the floor vents or not.

I haven't checked the heater hoses. Are they accessible from the engine compartment? If memory serves me right they are.

The heater control **** works fine, never had any trouble with it. I get air out of all vents fine, just makes noise out of the dashboard vents.

Check behind the battery. there is your vac hose that operates the blend doors and it probably has a leak or acid ate it up.
