A\C Warm under Heavey Acceleration

I have noticed that when I accelerate heavily that my A\C blows warm for several seconds. Is this normal? I assumed the truck was disengaging the A\C for better acceleration. I should also mention I am in AZ and any vehicles A\C can have a hard time when it is 115.

Thanks

You don't mention what veh. you have, but most configurations turn the copressor off at wide open throttle, for max HP and acceleration. I would say that this is normal as long as the air continues to blow at the same rate and from the vents. If the air stops blowing from the vents and changes to defrost then you have a vacume leak.

Chucks bp,

It is an 04 with a 4.6. Thanks for your reply. I think it is as you said, the compressor turning off under WOT.

Yes most FORDS turn off the a/c compressor under WOT conditions. My SHO, truck, explorer all do the same thing. Soon as you back off it turns back on.

That is a good tip, here in Mexicali we can be sometimes around 120-122 degrees, and not having cold air coming out even for a few seconds is not good at all!!
