groaning at shutdown?

ive noticed this seems to have gotten louder, i dont know if its caused by my constantly low and leaking cooling system? im gonna get the leak checked out by a radiator shop, see if they can pinpoint the leak for me.
but either way, it makes a sort of groaning noise like something is moving slowly with pressure, dont know where though but it sure sounds like its right by the intake.

also i dont know why but my truck doesnt blow hot air, it gets mildy warm so im not freezing my butt off and i havnt done any checks yet, tomorrow after school it should be hot enough that i can touch the heater hoses and find out if they are hot.

also as for defrosters, do they use the AC unit? because my AC freon is low, the schucks guy told me that when we were trying to find the howling sound. but i need to know if i need to recharge it before it hurts itself. (plus i removed fuse #5 about the same time i experienced this howling bearing sound or whatever this howling sound is. so i dont know if it hurt the ac clutch or a bearing or if its not even the ac unit.)
any ideas of what it could be would be appreciated.

If your coolant is low enough then your heat won't work.

Yes, the defroster uses the A/C to assist with defogging the windshield. Yes, you need to keep your A/C system recharged or you'll break something that will cost far more than it'll cost to recharge the system.

ok, heat problem is getting better, i replaced the thermostat w/ a 195 degree one. now it heats up within a reasonable amount of time which makes me happy...

ac, if its low would or could it possibly make noise? cause fuse #5 does something with the ac coil or something like that. and i pulled it out, man i dont wanna take this to a "specialist" and have em hand me a bill.

Did you check your coolant level? If it's low, you'll want to refill it and burp the system.

Yes, if the A/C is low it can make noise. Take it in to have it recharged (they should purge the system first and hold a vacuum for a few minutes before recharging it.

It's way more expensive to replace blown parts than to have the system recharged.
