Air conditioning compressor

The clutch on my AC compressor is making a terrible racket. Is it possible to replace the clutch without breaking into the compressor and blowing the charge?

Yes.

See the service manual.

Yes, you can replace the clutch and pulley without opening the a/c system. If I were you I would go ahead and replace both if you are sure that the noise is in the clutch and not the compressor. The reason for this is because if the clutch has been slipping it would create heat on the bearing in the pulley and it would most likely be the next part you would have problems with.
