Question Sweet Smell

Hello guys,

Listen, lately when I first turn on my heater I get this sweet smell, it only last for about 5 seconds then gone..I figure it may be a leaky heater core but as of now the heater blowes real hot, does not fog up the windows and there is no visual leakes anywhere within the engine compartment. This 4.6 has 130.000 miles on it and doesnt leak a drop of anything in fact. So am I right, can it be the heater core? Like i said the smell goes away real fast......Anyway any advice would be helpful.

check your hose fittings in the engine compartment...it may be drawing it up from there...also a standard pressure test on the cooling system will point out a potential leak

Thanks,
I did have a cooling system flush done last week, there were no leaks and the tech said all the hoses looked fine I was there when he did the work. There is no leak anywhere I can see, no spots on the ground or anything. I guess I will have to have a presure test done like you said. also, I hate to admit it, but this is the first time the coolant has been changed, In all the miles I never had to add a drop of coolant. and since last week the reseivor level is still right where it was filled to. leads me to think no leak, but one would think leak when u smell the SWEET STUFF>
