Shop Pricing?
MY Ranger is Due for some juice in the A/C system. I took a course Air Conditioning in college. I go around getting quotes from dealerships and indenpent shops. The most so far is $90 from Steve's Auto Care here in town. I asked them to recover the old stuff, pull it down into a vaccum and recharge with R-134A and using Ester Oil not "PAG" Same thing with the Ford Dealership here, only they;ll do it for $78. Are these reasonable prices??????,,,,,,91
It seems to hover right around $80-$90 on average in this area. Be careful of pricing though... I noticed some price similar to the basic A/C check and the R134 isn't included.
I can understand that when it's not a given, but when you're having them EMPTY the system it's rather a given that you will want it recharged.
It's surprising that the dealer is actually less money. I'd double check for hidden costs on that one. Dealers rarely beat the outside guys for price.
