Kenwood DDX470

Hello all, I recently upgraded my factory Audiophile head unit with a Kenwood DDX470. I picked it up from Best Buy for $329 and couldn't be happier.

The stock Audiophile speakers really shine now and I love the Bluetooth functionality for both hands free calls and streaming music. I have a Droid based phone but also use the iPod interface should the wife be in the truck.

I also upgraded the factory sub with a Kicker 10CVT84, which made a HUGE improvement over the stock sub. With all the features you get and the quality of the sound/video this is a great unit for those looking to upgrade but not break the bank.

My truck is a 2006 SCAB Lariat by the way and with these upgrades I can now feel comfortable driving it another seven years. Just wanted to share this with everyone as I know I have spent many an hour searching the forums and the internet for good upgrade ideas. Thanks.

Glad to read your comments and that you are pleased! I received my DDX470 and assorted bits and pieces (ASWC-1 steering wheel adptor, Metra 95-5812 Install kit, Metra 70-5520 Wiring Harness) this week. I have the standard 6-disc I am upgrading.

After a couple of dead-ends and cancelled orders, I finally found (at 60% off, and have on the way) a set of Kenwood KFC X1720p components (now discontinued) for the front to replace the stock speakers. Now to just find the time to tear it all down and install it!

I have a couple of questions for you...
Did you have any surprises or difficulties (or did BB do the install)?
Did you use the ASWC-1 to retain Steering Wheel controls?
Which connector did you use for the iPod connectivity (and where did you mount or terminate it so your wife can connect her phone to it)?

Congrats on the HU and sub!

I had BB do the install as I didn't have the time myself. I didn't opt to retain the steering wheel controls as I rarely used them. I got the Kenwood iPod/USB/audio cable and have the iPod/USB routed to the ash tray and the audio cable in the glove box.

The iPod cable will use the USB connection if you hook it up though. I have a small 32 GB USB drive connected and it works great. Good luck with your new gear.
