Double Din Security Question

Hey Guys,
I have an 03 Screw that I added a JVC double din head unit. I just had my truck broken into and the unit stolen for the second time in 14 months.

I've decided to add an alarm, but I was wondering if any one has had any experience securing the DD unit into the dash to make it a little tougher to get out. It seems like the aftermarket head units aren't nearly as secure as the factory. Any thoughts. I am also considering switching to a single din with a removable faceplate thinking that help too.

Any thoughts??

I've got a glue on cable on mine. I wrapped it around the dash frame inside and used a small padlock to secure it. If someone cuts it or picks the lock open, they can have the prize... if not, they will leave really surprised and probably do more damage to my truck in remorse.

Although, I don't think anyone wants my 4+ year old Pioneer... but who knows.

I have a JVC double din with a removable faceplate. Problem solved.

Does a detachable face really help or will they steal it anyway and get a new faceplate for it?

dude, if someone wants it, someone is going to take. simple as that. tint your windows, don't show it off, park in good areas.

honestly dude, it's the 2nd time. you're an easy target. go to the gym, pick up mma sports or something....

I wanna do a DVD unit for my '97 XLT and don't have much radio crime around me. If I did I probably wouldn't...

A buddy of mine epoxied razor blades to the back of his dvd unit...

It made a mess but they didn't get his headunit.

I do believe this borders on being illegal and you could have charges brought against you....
