Factory Radio Install

Hello All! I have been trolling this site for a couple of years now and usually found everything I needed but now I have something that I cant find help with.

I have a 2009 F150 5.4 XLT that I bought with a aftermarket head unit. My truck came with Sync and Sirius from the factory but the truck never came with the factory head unit. I recently bought the factory 6 disk CD player and the factory face plate. I installed everything and am not having a few problems.

The volume will not adjust. Its either off or on the first tick mark and its loud as heck. I cant turn it down.. on or off only.

Sirius actually is activated and working (not paying for it?). Did dealers offer lifetime sub's? Maybe I bought one with a lifetime sub? Lucky me?

Anyway, the steering wheel controls only work on the BT but nothing to control the radio it self... Not sure what's going on.

Any ideas what the lack in controls could be from? Everything seems to be working except the volume control and the steering wheel controls.

I appreciate any help anyone can provide. I would love to get the factory Sync working. I use my hands free quite a bit.

Not sure. The description I read when I bought it was it was for 09 to 2012 F150's. I have been messing with it a little more and I found that I have no rear speakers, the sound button does not work to make audio changes either. I did however notice that the face plate and the radio actually have a spot for a 8 pin cable that I seem to be missing. Not sure it that is why i cannot control the volume and such. The radio has 3 grey plugs in the back but my harness only has 2 plugs so I am not sure if that is the other issue. I asked the company I bought it from and they have not responded yet.

I don't think you have the correct radio in there for your truck. I have a 2010 xlt, and I don't think there was an option for a 6 disc changer. If there was, your truck might not be wired for it.
What you need to do is to find out what your truck came with from the factory. If you have the window sticker, that will tell you if an upgrade stereo was installed. If nothing is listed, then you have the standard radio wiring, and that is your issue.
You could call a Ford dealer and give them the VIN and ask them to tell you what radio came in the truck. That might be the best.
Also, you will want to put some speakers in the back and get them plugged in. Also, look for an aftermarket amp that is still in the truck. That could monkey things up if it is still wired in the system. You would be putting speaker outs to line level inputs and that would cause major loud volume.

Also, the face plate may not be talkiing correctly to the radio either. That is why you need to make sure of compatability. If you can find a single CD player with Sirrius, I would try that and see if things don't get better.

One last thing. Do you know the previous owner of this truck? If so, could you contact them and see if they still have the head unit that came out of it?
