Head unit dims and cuts out

I have a boss head unit and alpine amp, kicker, and pioneer speakers in my 95 bronco. My jvc head unit worked fine but I switched to a boss head unit cuz it had auxiliary but ever since I rewired for the boss head unit, once I get to volume 70 the backlight dims, then at volume 80 the head unit shuts completely off then on over and over very quickly. It sounds good at volume 75 and below. And my amp stays on. Why is this happening?

Sounds like it begins drawing more current than the battery can supply as the lights dim, it turns off because as the current goes up the voltage goes down and at a certain point the voltage is not sufficient to keep the radio on.
