need opinions on headunit

hows it goin everyone. i've been looking at headunits for a little while now and i have no clue what exactly i want as far as brand and model etc. i do want an in dash navigation because i'm tired of my gps beeing in my brothers car or dads truck when i need it. i dont need anything real fancy just good sound quality and good quality nav. i've been looking at the jvc KW-NT3HDT http://www.crutchfield.com/s_105NT3H....html?tp=20212 and going by the reviews it looks like its a real nice unit but i also know there are tons more people that own the unit that havent given they're opinion on it. i dont want to spend $700 on something thats gonna crap out on me within a year but i also dont want to spend $1000 on something i dont exactly need. so if you guys could head me in the right direction it will be appreciated.

its going into an 04 nbs. and i want to stay with a double din.

The disadvantage with the kw-nt3hdt is the maps are a little old. I have a kw-nt1 and love it, and bought a kw-nt30hd for my aviator, but haven't had a chance to tear everything apart, because the whole system has to be replaced at once.

i've read quite a bit of good things about the kw-nt1. i'm not sure what i want. maybe the nt1 would be a better idea? i did search for it here and havent really seen many bad experiences. it sounds like a better idea. i'll see what else pops up here and think about it. thank you for the reply.

They're all pretty similar, the kw-nt1 is the oldest, kw-nt30hd was released this year, kw-nt3hdt last year, and kw-nt1 the year before that. I was actually looking to buy the kw-nt3hdt when they released the kw-nt30hd, and just went for it because of the maps being a year newer.

My area is pretty dynamic road-wise, There's been a lot of changes in two years, so with kw-nt1 it seems like I'm driving offroad sometimes. Nothing a map update wouldn't cure though, but it's not a big deal.
