New truck (2010 Supercrew) install backup camera or wait until new head unit?

I am up in the air on this question.

I'd love to get a rear view camera, but it seems rather pricey and involved going the OEM route with the new rearview mirror, etc.

The truck has the Sync system..so upgrading to a new HU will be some money too if I want to retain Sync and the steering wheel controls.

I figure i may as well just wait until I do a H/U upgrade..

I know I need a Sync retention module:
http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=26 ($250)

I'll also need a Steering wheel control module which the price depends on what head unit one goes with..around $60.

Then the price of a new H/U which would be around another $300+.

I figure if I go this route, I just buy a license plate mount camera or something along those lines and plug into the back of the new head unit, using the head unit's display as the monitor...

I normally wouldnt have bought the upgraded stereo, etc..since i usually end up putting some better in, but this particular truck was on sale..and had the Sync system already..so I dont want to gut the Sync capabilities if I dont have too. I have read the Sync capabilities (voice recognition, etc) are better than aftermarket options, but I can't really comment on that as I dont have first hand experience..

What have you guys done in this situation?

If you are comfortable with wiring you can use an aftm camera and the OEM mirror.

In all honesty I dont want to drop the headliner..I have read mixed reviews on going the OEM mirror route.
