Head unit recommendations,,bring it!
Look at the hands on research for colors of the JVC KW-AVX820. Here's a pic they have too.

yes it has red... and about 6-7 other colors... i think there are 2 differant reds.. then you can change the look ( design lay out ) to i think 4 or 5 differant screens in any color you want
here is a couple pics of my JVC.... oh and another good feathure is it is easy to get it to play while you are driving ( just ground the green wire )..wife and kid likes to watch movies when we travel.. on the pioneer you have to put in a toggle switch and flip it back and forth

I just grounded the mute and parking brake wire on my Pioneer and it does the same thing. Not sure where you got the toggle switch idea. The DVD players on almost all of the units (regardless of brand) are activated when the vehicle is in park, therefore only the parking wire needs grounded.

Or use a relay like in this video of a bypass for the Pioneer avh-p4100dvd. Looks super easy.

Gotcha. Mine's the Z110BT. I actually remember seeing the video Stealth posted when I was looking around for how to do mine. In the wiring harness there is a yellow mute wire that needs popped out and moved over one position. From that it's just ground the mute and parking brake wire. I do recall seeing people having to put in relays and whatnot, but that was for other units. You're right that it depends on the unit.
I would look into Alpine head units...you may pay a little more for the name..but IMO worth it compared to a kenwood HU or pioneer....Kenwoods can be really confusing to control and function as well
