I tried setting the AUX 1 setting to IPOD and that didnt work. i have the correct chord to hook the ipod with but the video wont play. The sound from the video will play, but the picture wont: the screen is just black.

your parking brake has to be engaged in order to view video.

x2 on that one. You need to correctly engage your headunit's video system. Since it is a DVD playback unit, it is designed to display entertainment video only when you are in park.

what cable are you using? you have to have the CD-ID200v for it to work.

If it's not the cable, then hopefully the DVD headunit will support the video files of the Ipod. Call it strange but in very few instances a device will playback certain file types, but when connected to another device, the secondary won't because of file resolution, frame rate, file type, or something else. Hopefully it's just the cable though!!!

Wait a minute, reading through the original post, what cable exactly are you running? Are you running the cable that SunDevil2188 listed? Or are you running a phono to RCA adaptor? If you're running phono to RCA, is it strictly stereo or does it have video support? If you are running a proper video cable for the rear interface on the headunit, what is the model number on it?

If it is just USB it will not work, I know you say you have the correct cable but are you sure it is the CDIU200V. I bought it but returned it because the only thing it does extra for $50 is ipod video which is useless to me. I would just burn the video to a DVD and not waste space on the ipod.

I have an iPhone and the 3100, but besides the cable, I think there is a setting on the iPods for TV output. I think you need to mess with that too.

okay i figured it out. the second end on the CDIU200V chord (not the USB end) was plugged in to the OPT plug on the back of the head unit. i changed it to the one labeled EXT Video and i works now. when i first hooked it up i wasnt sure which one to plug it into so i just put it in the OPT one.

it works great now with no problem

thanks for all the help guys

On the back of the head unit there is two places where you can put the small end of the ipod chord (not the usb part). One says OPT and the other says EXT. (external video) plug it ino that one on the back of the unit they are labed to. also go into the system menu on the unit and find the EXT menu. hit the arrow till it says ipod and that sould be it
